BeadsWith the Roses of Mbuya initiative Reach Out helps women that have displaced by the war in Northern Uganda to start up Income Generating Activities like bead making. These women form groups which collect old colourful magazines that they cut into triangular strips which are rolled with a needle at the centre to form beads. The beads are then hand painted in a layer of lacquer, after which the string of beads is hang in a shade to dry. These are glued and strung together to make jewellery and accessories. Prices of beads include a small administration cost from Reach Out. All extra profits are re-invested back into the Roses workshop to help promote sustainability and into Operation School Fees to provide education for children.

HandbagsThe handbags are also made by the Roses of Mbuya beads group. It encompasses local designs and materials.
Other ProductsBasket weaving was introduced to some clients within the Roses of Mbuya group.
