Reach Out Mbuya Parish HIV /AIDS Initiative (ROM) today hosted visitors from Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Atlanta, CDC Uganda, Monitoring and Evaluation Technical Support Program (METS) and Infectious Diseases Institute (IDI) Uganda. The team was interested in having a walk through the Uganda Electronic Medical Records (EMR) Point Of Care (POC) system and client flow process.
Eric Manders from CDC Atlanta was impressed about the fact that the technology is fully adaptable in Uganda. He referred to ROM as the cutting age of informatics.
UgandaEMR, a client records management system funded by CDC and recently adopted by Ministry of Health Uganda has upgraded a version known as point of care to improve service quality in terms of reliability, precision and responsiveness.
ROM is the pathfinder of the new version before it can be rolled out to the rest of the health facilities and hospitals and is closely working with METS software developing support team.
Last year 2019, ROM successfully migrated all it’s ART client records since year 2000 to the UgandaEMR system hence improving its records management practices.
As next steps from the meeting, the team discussed avenues on how the data gathered can be taken to a level where it can offer real time analytics to support decision making.
