She would then have to wait for almost a full day to get medication but now she appreciates the e-CDDP Application that has reduced the entire process to five (5) minutes or even less.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/www.reachoutmbuya.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/DSC_0787-1-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3506\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.reachoutmbuya.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/DSC_0787-1-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.reachoutmbuya.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/DSC_0787-1-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.reachoutmbuya.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/DSC_0787-1-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Namakula Sarah being assessed by a Community ART and TB Treatment Supporter (CATTS) using eCDDP from ROM outreach in Kiswa Community- Mbuya,Nakawa Divison.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;For Sarah\nNambya a mother of three, it has been cumbersome for her in the past. \u201c<strong><em>I\nwould spend the entire day waiting for my turn to get medication yet I work two\njobs one in the morning and the other in the evening but now it takes a few minutes,\ntoday I first reported to work then came here.,\u201d she narrates<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Though the use of this application\nhas challenges like, failure of some clients to turn up for appointments, we\nare able to see improved coverage and quality of services by decongesting\nclinics, reducing client waiting time and transport cost by taking services\ncloser to clients.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/www.reachoutmbuya.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/DSC_0804-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3504\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.reachoutmbuya.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/DSC_0804-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.reachoutmbuya.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/DSC_0804-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.reachoutmbuya.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/DSC_0804-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>&nbsp;Nambya Sarah 33, receives\nmedicine during the ROM outreach in Kiswa Community.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Nabukwasi Teopista, the one of\nthe CATTS said, the e-CDDP Application has eased her work. \u2018\u2019Once we assess the\nclient information updates are automatically sent to the cloud, Backup database\n(Cddp-App Web API at the main Facility).\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The application which has an inbuilt database is able to synchronise with the shared\ndatabase. The\napplication also has two interfaces- the\ndesktop interface and the\nmobile interface. The desktop interface is used at the main service centre to capture information about the clients. The initial\nregistration of the clients\nis done using the desktop interface. The mobile interface enables users of a mobile\ndevice (phones and tablets) to access doctor prescriptions and dispense the\nprescribed drugs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step by step guide on how the application operates; <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>&nbsp;The Clinician Screens patients eligible for\nCDDP as they capture the clients\u2019 data into the electronic system\/excel sheets.<\/li><li>2-3\ndays before the specific clients CDDP-appointments, the patients\u2019 files are\nretrieved by the registry clerk supported by the respective community health\nworkers.<\/li><li>Thereafter,\nthese files are taken to the clinicians to cross check whether the CDDP\nRegister corresponds to the named cddp clients to ensure that all of them\nscheduled for that appointment date, are included on the list.<\/li><li>The\nDrugs given are then packed by the pharmacy staff in the presence of the\ncommunity health workers to be delivered to the clients in their respective\nCDDP sites, together with the Tablets.<\/li><li>The\nCommunity Health Workers synchronize clients\u2019 data using internet(mifi)\nHowever, after synchronization of the clients\u2019 data, the app operates while off\ninternet.<\/li><li>The\nClients are then assessed by the community health workers using the CDDP-\nApplication (Tablets) while being given their drugs.<\/li><li>The\ndata is then saved temporarily on the tablets until all the clients on the\nspecific CDDP appointment have been assessed, thus saved to the cloud there\nafter.<\/li><li>The\nClients Data can now be accessed by the specific project team members for usage\ni.e. making reports, comments, as well as following up clients for referrals\nand missed appointments.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Eligible clients<\/strong><strong>\nshould be; <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Above\n19 years\u2019 old.<\/li><li>Adherence\nof 95% and above (and keep their appointment).<\/li><li>Without\nco-existing chronic medical\/surgical condition such hypertension, diabetes\nmellitus, malignancy.<\/li><li>The\nproject targets PLHIV who have been on <em>Antiretroviral<\/em>Therapy (ART) for at least 12 months and on their current regimen\nfor at least 6 months. <\/li><li>Virologically\nsuppressed with ((viral load less than 1000copies\/\u00b5l (plasma) or 5000copies\/\u00b5l\n(DBS).)<\/li><li>No\nactive TB or other WHO stage III\/IV opportunistic infection.<\/li><li>Not\npregnant or lactating woman.<\/li><\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Racheal Kemigisha.
