At the health camp organized by the Uganda AIDS Commission (UAC) and ROM to equip UAC staff and their families with HIV and AIDS information and services, Dr. Stephen Watiti, who has lived with HIV for over thirty years advised participants to always accept the problem that there\u2019s and live positively if they are to overcome all the challenges. \u201cI have lived with HIV for over thirty years, used my position to help other people and the more I have helped, the more I have helped myself.\u201d He said.<\/em><\/p>\n

He further urged them to always test for HIV, screen for non-communicable diseases including cervical and prostate cancers and if found positive, they should look after their bodies well so as to live longer.<\/p>\n

ROM and UAC believe that HIV is still a threat to Uganda\u2019s socio-economic development that imposes a big burden to individuals, families, communities and the nation at large. At the workplace, HIV has the potential to affect productivity.<\/p>\n

ROM provided UAC staff with HIV testing and counselling services, tuberculosis screening and management, blood pressure, blood sugar testing and cancer screening among others. Participants screened for different diseases; 26<\/strong> screened for blood pressure, 25<\/strong> were tested for HIV, 3 <\/strong>for tuberculosis and eight <\/strong>for blood sugar.<\/p>\n
