Medical male circumcision is one of the biomedical prevention interventions that reduces chances of HIV acquisition by males, thus contributing to the UNAIDS 95-95-95 targets to reduce HIV infections in Uganda.<\/p>\n

To achieve this, Reach Out Mbuya Community Health Initiative has intensified VMMC efforts targeting 25,674 in Kampala region. Services are provided through a mix of models including roving camps, community outreaches and static facilities. \u00a0\u00a0Participants are allowed to choose from undergoing surgical and device (Shang Ring) methods of circumcision.<\/p>\n

From October 2023, a total of 1,743 men (27%) of the annual target have been so far circumcised and strategic plans are being optimized to reach out to more men in communities.<\/p>\n

Currently, outreaches are stationed at open spaces in Kampala and have proven to be the most yielding VMMC service points. Other services offered to males at VMMC service points include; HIV testing and counselling, information on reproductive health, gender-based violence, alcohol and drug abuse among others.<\/p>\n
