Empowering Young Mothers for a Healthier Tomorrow
With support from the Mennonite Central Committee – Uganda, ROM is implementing the Maternal Childcare Project to improve maternal and child health in the slum communities of Nakawa Division, Kampala District. Running from April 2021 to March 2026, the project targets young mothers and children under the age of two, addressing their unique health and socioeconomic challenges.
Through a combination of facility and community-based interventions at ROM sites including Mbuya, Banda, and Kinawataka, the project enhances access to essential health services for mothers, pregnant women, newborns, and toddlers. It also strengthens family resilience by promoting strategies that mitigate vulnerability, improve parenting practices, and increase financial stability through household income-generating activities.
