A big round of applause to Butabika, Kawempe, and Kiruddu National Referral Hospitals (NRHs) for maintaining their SANAS international accreditation, a true mark of excellence in laboratory quality and reliability.

• Butabika NRH continues to raise the bar in maintaining international standards.
• Kawempe NRH celebrated its third consecutive accreditation, showcasing commitment and consistency.
• Kiruddu NRH proudly upheld its accreditation, reflecting a strong culture of continuous improvement.

Building on this success, Reach Out Mbuya Community Health Initiative (ROM), in partnership with the Ministry of Health, held a five day Regional Recency Testing Refresher Training in 2024 for over 55 HIV testing and counselling providers and laboratory staff. The training strengthened participants’ knowledge and skills in counselling for recency testing, clinical protocols, and the latest best practices in HIV care and treatment.

Laboratory personnel expressed great satisfaction with the training, noting that it boosted their confidence, accuracy, and consistency in conducting recency tests. This progress continues to raise the quality of HIV testing services across all supported facilities.

Combined together, these milestones celebrate Uganda’s growing leadership in laboratory quality systems and diagnostics, reminding us that when partnerships align, patients win.
