Socio-Economic Empowerment: Young Mothers Pitch Their Business Ideas

With support from Mennonite Central Committee (MCC), young mothers have completed their Income Generating Activities (IGA) training and are now pitching their business ideas.

It should be noted that under the MCC Project, young mothers are transforming their lives through economic empowerment. They receive hands-on training in tailoring, craft making, and small business management, and are supported to join Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs). With access to savings, credit, and mentorship, many have started income-generating activities that help them provide for their families and regain confidence in their future.

The training equipped them with skills on how to start a business and essential soft skills for sustainable livelihoods.

During a recent inspirational session, the Director of Programs, Ms. Hilda Acayo, encouraged the beneficiaries to stay united and remain focused, reinforcing the key truth. She noted,

When women are economically empowered, it directly improves the health and education of their children.

The MCC Project Lead, Mr. Silas Masari, also emphasized the importance of husbands accompanying their wives to health facilities, noting that consistent support from partners strengthens the journey of empowerment.
