Guided by our theory of change, ROM promotes holistic, community-based, and peer-led approaches to improve health outcomes and strengthen communities. We believe that by taking services closer to people, ROM continues to expand access to HIV prevention, screening, and care services for diverse populations. In line with this approach, ROM’s Care and Treatment teams joined the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions at the Nakawa Resident State Attorney’s Offices for a Health Awareness Camp.
The activity offered sensitization and screening for HIV/AIDS, TB, cervical cancer, and other related health conditions. During the activity, Claire Murungi, ROM’s Biomedical Prevention Technical Officer, noted that despite all the efforts in HIV prevention, Uganda still records more than 50,000 new infections every year, commending the team for embracing screening and awareness of individual status.

Activities like this remind us that taking services closer to communities is key and we must continue to strengthen prevention efforts, expand access to testing plus ensure no one is left behind. Staff were called upon to be champions for HIV prevention in their individual networks.
