The Grandmothers project

To improve the well-being of extremely vulnerable older persons, ROM, with support from the Stephen Lewis Foundation (SLF), implements the Grandmothers’ project in Butuntumula Sub-County Luweero district and in Nakawa Division Kampala District. Beneficiaries are on annual basis provided with medical care, economic empowerment and psychosocial support, in addition to vocational skilling for Adolescent Girls and Young Women (AGY) in the already needy grandmothers’ care. Every Friday, a special clinic for grandmothers runs to meet the medical and psychological needs of the grandmothers, as well as a meeting point for feedback on the progress of the economic activities for groups and individuals. The grandmothers project served a total of 1082 grandmothers and 55 Adolescent Girls and Young Women.
