During the ROM Graduation Ceremony that occurred on 7th March, ahead of International Women’s Day, the beneficiaries of ROM’s Livelihood initiatives shared their heartwarming testimonies about their journeys of transformation and self-reliance.
One of the graduates, Kadondi Jenifer, shared an emotional testimony about her journey:
“I thank God for today. I had never imagined that I would ever wear a graduation gown. The Jenni you see today was once sitting at home, not knowing how to work or afford food. One day, a ROM community member approached me and told me about a program that aimed to skill young mothers.
We first started with health education, including hygiene, postnatal care, and mental health support. Later, we were trained in life skills and formed our business groups. My group, called the Success Group, sold silver fish. We eventually pitched our business and emerged as the best, receiving a startup booster kit.
I was fortunate that, following a vulnerability assessment conducted by the MCC Project staff after receiving the booster kit, I was selected among 20 beneficiaries out of 113 to join the ROMSE skilling program in three trades: catering, tailoring, and hairdressing.
I am truly grateful to God for this life-changing opportunity.”
In September 2025, Jenni’s young mother group (under the MCC Project) pitched their business idea. They emerged the first among the six groups and were given a business booster to further their business.
