On 19th of May 2022, Reach Out Mbuya Community Health Initiative in collaboration with Makerere Business School was pleased to host students from Drake University, USA. The 13 students were on a study abroad program under the theme “Sustainable Development in Sub-Sahara Africa”. ROM has over the years always participated in this program and is gratified to teach the members about her work.
Accompanied by Professor Debra Bishop, the students visited the Mbuya clinic; triage, pharmacy and laboratory to understand ROM’s system in care and treatment of HIV/Aids, TB and Non- Communicable diseases. other health issues in Uganda.
The team also visited three of ROM’s Village Savings and Loans Association (VSLA) groups that were started by ROM beneficiaries in Nakawa Division. Students experienced the uniqueness of ROM’s Community-based approach, through which the most vulnerable people are impacted.
During the visit, 22 Stars VSLA group showcased different handcrafts and also explained how they operate. Drake students bought some of the items to support these amazing groups.
